Product Update October 2024 | Employment Hero


A big hello and welcome back to the October edition of the Employment Hero product update! As we head closer towards the end of the year, we’ve got a whole bunch of new product releases to share with you. 

So, what’s new in October? We’ve added new updates to Hero Time Clock, SmartMatch, Custom Security Settings (CSS) and lots more. It’s all here and ready for you to use in-platform – let’s get to it.

The Hero Time Clock is now even better

Available on the following plans: Platinum

We’re excited to share that the Hero Time Clock has received some new enhancements. 

A new “awaiting passcode” status now requires employees to set up their own passcodes after being granted access, enhancing security.

Additionally, a location-based filter on the employee access page enables admins to easily manage access based on work locations or cost centres. Admins can also choose to notify employees via email when their access to the Hero Time Clock is revoked, streamlining the entire process.

Lastly, Admins can now round timesheets to the shift start/end time automatically within a certain buffer time. This means that when an employee clocks in within the set buffer time on Hero Time Clock, timesheets will automatically round to the shift start and end time.

Say hello to the new Exit Interview Workflows

We’ve made managing exit interviews a whole lot easier with our new Workflows feature. The Exit Interview Workflow allows you to automate the process of sending out exit interviews to employees before their termination date. You can customise schedules, select templates and set conditions based on teams, locations and employment types. 

Enhanced security with Single Sign-On (SSO)

Available on the following HR plans: Platinum 

SSO is now in Open Beta for all HR Platinum subscription plans. This feature supports Microsoft, Google and Okta as Identity Providers, enhancing your security and streamlining access. 

Upon finishing setting up SSO with Employment Hero, employees can sign in directly with one click via Okta (My Apps Dashboard), Microsoft Office Apps or Google Workspace Apps.

New customisation options for your dashboard

Available on the following plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum

We’ve made it easier for you to customise your dashboard in-platform. You can now rearrange, show and hide widgets to create a personalised layout that suits your preferences. Do note that certain widgets remain static and cannot be moved or removed. This includes the following widgets – company feed, getting started, to do list, surveys and recommended.

Easily view work anniversaries and birthdays happening today or upcoming in the next 14 days on your dashboard

We’ve also upgraded the celebrations widget. Admins, owners, and managers with the relevant permissions can view current work anniversaries and birthdays on the ‘today’ tab, while the ‘upcoming’ tab displays celebrations up to 14 days in advance. You can also filter the widget by name, team, and all personnel or reporting personnel for a more tailored experience.

Another month, another round of SmartMatch updates!

We’ve enhanced SmartMatch even further with our new ‘refine criteria list’ feature. This update allows you to view, reorder, add or delete criteria when creating a new job, allowing you to define the most important evaluation criteria for the role you’re hiring for and ensuring SmartMatch shares the most relevant candidates.

Managers can now be notified when any of direct reports are late to work or have not yet clocked in/out

We’re excited to introduce Swag Clock In/Out Manager Notifications as part of our payroll enhancements. 

Based on valuable feedback, we’ve added a new setting that notifies managers when a direct report is late or hasn’t clocked in or out. You can easily toggle on these notifications and customise buffer zones to determine when they want to receive alerts. This feature will help to enhance communication and streamline attendance management.

Streamline your manual data input for custom work hours 

Available on the following plans: Platinum

Streamline the process of entering custom work hours with the ability to manually upload custom work hours via CSV in Time and Attendance. Each employee’s custom work hours can be included in three formats: Custom Time, Custom Hours, or Standard Daily.

Add a workflow template suggestion

Available on the following plans: Platinum

Don’t see a workflow template in the Workflows feature that suits your use case? Easily leave a suggestion to inspire future templates! 

Simply navigate to Workflows and scroll down to select the ‘Submit a workflow template suggestion’ option.

We’ve made improvements to the Time to Hire Report 

Available on the following plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum

Curious how long it takes for you to fill an open role? We’ve updated the Time to Hire Report to include new widgets showing you the average time to fill and the average time to hire. These features will provide valuable insights and streamline your hiring process.

An easy way to check employee lateness

Available on the following HR plans: Platinum, Premium 

Easily access critical data on total absence time, overtime, lateness and approved leave days with the new Lateness Report, enhancing your ability to manage attendance and optimise operational efficiency.

Access the lateness report by navigating to Reports > Time > Lateness Report.

We’ve made changes to a range of Custom Security Settings (CSS) 

Changes to CSS in Offboarding 

Available on the following plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum

You can now grant employees permission to offboard other employees based on CSS families. Access this by navigating to Settings > Customer Security Settings (under General Settings) > New Security Groups > Employees/Contractors > Offboarding for employees/Offboarding for contractors.

Changes to CSS for employee and contractor tasks

Available on the following plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum 

Employees can be granted access to view, modify, and delete permissions for employees and contractor tasks.

You can now add descriptions to Goals 

Available on the following plans: Platinum

We’ve introduced the ability to add descriptions to goals, enhancing clarity and context in goal setting. Users can now write descriptions when creating or editing Goals, which will be visible in the Goal Details module.

Admins can now archive ‘in-progress’ and ‘completed’ 360 Reviews

Available on the following plans: Platinum

You can now archive both ‘In Progress’ and ‘Completed’ 360 Reviews for better management in the 360 Review Management module. Once archived, the status changes to ‘Archived,’ and participants of ‘In Progress’ reviews will be notified accordingly.

Global Teams (Employer of Record) now covers 150 countries 

Available on the following plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum

Global Teams EOR (previously known as Global Teams Requests) have now expanded to cover 150 countries, an increase from 90 countries.

Enable automated mileage reimbursement 

Available on all payroll plans.

You can now automate mileage reimbursements by assigning an “Expense Category” for cars, vans, motorcycles and bicycles, syncing it to payroll with automatic tracking based on AMAP’s rates.

An easier way to send Hero Points

Available on the following plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum

You can now manually distribute Hero Points to employees as needed, allowing for more flexibility in rewarding them during special events and celebrations beyond just birthdays and work anniversaries. 

We’ve also introduced greater flexibility in sending Hero Points. You can now send varying point amounts and include different descriptions for each point allocation within the same form. 

Need to exclude certain employees only? Simply click ‘Send to everyone in my organisation’ and unselect the employees that should not be included.

The 9-Box Talent Grid Audit Trail is here

Available on the following plans: Platinum

The new 9-Box Talent Grid Audit Trail allows you to see the history of ratings on the 9-Box Talent Grid and track the progress of employees, allowing leaders and managers to make strategic decisions around how talent is progressing through the business and why.

HR & payroll connected customers who manage their expense claims from payroll can now set cap limits for expense claims

Available on all payroll plans

You can now set cap limits for expenses/claims with cap limits applied to any pending, approved or submitted claims. Cap limits will be enforced on a yearly basis from 1 January to 31 December.
